Akufo-Addo commissions ceramic tile manufacturing company under 1D1F

Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned the Fujian Sentuo Ceramics Company in Kpone, in the Greater Accra Region as part of the One-District-One-Factory initiative.

The President commissioned the ceramic tile manufacturing company on Wednesday, February 27, 2018.

The company employs about 1,500 persons and sources 90% of its raw materials locally, mainly from the Central and Western regions.

Speaking after commissioning the factory, Nana Addo thanked the owners of the company for taking advantage of the One-District-One-Factory Policy.

He indicated that his government aims to achieve a significant level of industrial development across the country.

“The industrial transformation agenda is anchored on a 10-point plan, confronting the private sector and its ability to spearhead the development of our country,” he opined.

“Some of those are the high cost of doing business, lack of access to medium- and long-term financing, poor infrastructure and logistics support for enterprises and commercial activities, inadequate skilled manpower and limited access to technology, innovation and research,” he said.

The President assured that all the aforementioned challenges are being addressed by the policies of government.

Touching on what government is doing to encourage local businesses, Nana Addo said his government is working to bring down interest rates.

President Akufo-Addo also assured the business community his government is working hard bring down interest rates and the cedi depreciation to improve the business environment.

“All efforts are being made to arrest the decline and restore the cedi to stability, in order to improve the competitiveness of Ghanaian industry.”
